The last forty years have been a social experiment of epic proportions - have you noticed?  The rules of behavior between men and women have totally changed, yet most people have not considered the ultimate consequences of this shift.  Anthropologists, however, have noted our behavior, and interestingly, their observations line up with the admonitions of the Catholic Church.  This is a very provocative podcast; we'd love for you to comment with your thoughts or personal experiences.

Rachel's Vineyard

When the podcast topic is abortion, you might be tempted not to listen, thinking it either depressing or not applicable to your life.  Instead, Deacon Tim manages to highlight God's grace in the midst of this ugly topic.  First, he shows us that the effects of abortion are insidious and pervasive, crippling to the women involved and the people who love them.  But there is hope.  An amazing organization, Rachel's Vineyard, offers healing after an abortion, even years later, to women, men, grandparents, whomever.  Here's their website: Rachel's Vineyard.  I hope you'll send this podcast to someone you know who has participated in an abortion, or if you don't know anyone, please pray that this podcast will be sent to those who need it.  Please pray for the ministry of Rachel's Vineyard, and even consider a charitable contribution to this ministry of hope!

Men of God

Last week, our podcast highlighted young Christian leaders; this week Deacon Tim and I discuss how men are accepting the challenge to be spiritual leaders.  Shaken by the feminist movement, men have scarcely known how to behave for the past few decades.  Times are changing, though, and Deacon Tim shares his insights into how men can effectively live out their calling as Christian leaders, particularly in the family. You'll want to send this podcast around to the men in your life - they'll be inspired!

A few years ago, Deacon Tim co-authored a book called Signposts, a discussion plan that helps men live out their Christian mission.  It's still in print, so take a look:  Tim's book

The Fundamental Problem

Deacon Tim was asked to be a part of our state's "Academy of Goals," a group of thinkers whose mission is to set goals and priorities for the state.  Like John the Baptist, Deacon Tim was the lone voice crying out in the wilderness - no one cared a bit about what he had to say about the real problems facing society.  Thank goodness he has a podcast so someone will listen! :)

A Sign of Contradiction

We've established that we're all Christians around here.  So what?  What does that mean exactly?  How are we to interact with this culture of ours?  And what about our kids......what messages are we sending them about living the Christian life?  Deacon Tim just took Sarah, his sixth and final college student, to her freshman orientation.  He was rather alarmed, and he'll tell you why.  I, of course, am glad that it made for an interesting podcast.  Tell us what you think!

Men - Who Needs 'Em?

Well, I do.  We do.  The Church does. 

A few years ago, Deacon Tim's message would have been jeered.  Now, I'm not so sure.......times, they may be a changin'.  I don't think there will be a middle ground on this podcast: you'll either love it or hate it.  Weigh in and let us know where you stand, and please pass this one along - I believe this is a message that needs to be heard.

Is "Truth" Created or Discovered?

This podcast sprung from an article in the Tulsa World which quoted Josh McDowell , well-known Christian author and apologist.  McDowell reports that 82% of born again young people say something can be "true for you, but not for me." 

So what is "truth"?  Can we individually decide what is true?  We all agree that the Bible is the ultimate authority for Christians, but what about when sincere Christians differ in the practice of their faith?  Ugh, things can get really sticky!  Deacon Tim exhorts us to find the answers to these questions, and he also gives us the scoop on an ancient set of clues.
