Troubles.......I have lots of friends withstanding some real hardships these days, so this podcast really struck a nerve with me. When troubles occur, we cry out, "Why, Lord?", and that's the perfect question to ask - it just may help us get things back on track. In this podcast, Deacon Tim goes through a list of reasons why we might be encountering trouble and what to do about it. This is definitely a podcast you'll want to send to your friends and family!

Thanks for the great thoughts on dealing with troubles...It's helpful to be re-directed to God's will and purpose. Earthly stuff just gets in the way sometimes, doesn't it? This discussion was very comforting.

My favorite way to think of suffering is in the story of the refiners fire. God is burning all that icky dross from us. When he is thru with us...we will shine like sparky gold....and we will reflect Him.
While I don't like the fire and can be a big self centered baby when it comes to suffering...
I know that is the place where God puts me from time to time so that I can be conformed to the image of Christ.

I like that idea about "God wouldn't discipline you if He didn't love you!"! I forget about this (even though I'm reminded, in a way, by everyday discipline that I mete out to my children!). Thank you.

You know, I was listening to a talk recently on the subject of burdens and trials. The speaker, who was very inspiring, talked about the three kinds of burdens we bear.
1. The burdens we create by choices we make. (sin)
2. Burdens created by someone else's choices. (abuse, dishonesty, etc.)
3. And the burdens that come as part of being alive today. (natural disasters, death, and such)
The part I liked the best was when he said, "the burdens we bear, no matter which kind they are, give us a chance to develop the qualities in ourselves we will need to live in God's presence once more."
