Deacon Tim has been carefully studying our recent economic downturn from both a macro-economic standpoint as well as a spiritual one. Our hearts are heavy for our friends and family members who are experiencing the worry of unemployment, yet we know that God must have a hidden blessing. Isn't that just like Him, really? At its core, it's the message we just celebrated at Easter: triumph over tragedy, light from darkness, good from evil.
If you're struggling economically, please shoot us a note in the comments section - we want to hear how you are dealing with it from a spiritual standpoint - perhaps your insights could help someone else!

Great thoughts, on a difficult subject guys. I suspect some of those thoughts might find their way into Sunday's sermon. Thanks! It assumes a robust sense of God's sovereignty, and hanging onto that hope through some difficult times. Where one's sense of identity is rooted. Again, great thoughts.
Psalm 46.10 keeps bouncing around my head- "Be still, know that I am God..."
grace & peace in Christ,

I think you've discerned well the blessing (potential blessing) in these times. Asking the question, "Ok, Lord- what are you doing here?" Unmasking those idols we so quickly set up and gorge ourselves on - treating good things as if they were ultimate- worshipping the gifts and not the giver. And in his 'severe mercy' God creates this space to reflect, and that biblical word 'repent', from deadening ways to ways of life.

This is SUCH a frightening time for so many people. Prayers for all who are currently between jobs.
