Mary- More Than Just a Nativity Figurine!

If you're a long-time listener, you've probably heard us say this before, but it's so commonly misunderstood that it bears repeating:  Catholics don't worship Mary.  Yet, I'm sure we think about her more than Protestant Christians, and she's worthy of our respect.  Why?  She must have been unimaginably pure if God would choose her to be the Christ-bearer.  God must have thought her to be the perfect role-model for His chosen son.  What's not to ponder about this Christian heroine?  In this podcast, Deacon Tim points us to some scripture from the Old Testament to help us understand Mary's role in salvation history. We pray that pondering Jesus through the eyes of Mary will show you her Son in a new way.

A Conversion Story

    This podcast reminds me of the quote by Bishop Fulton J. Sheen, "There are not 100 people who hate the Catholic Church, but there are millions who hate what they wrongly perceive the Catholic Church to be."

    Deacon Tim tells the conversion story of a friend who began the conversion process with the goal of debunking the Catholic Church.  The purpose of telling this conversion story is not to convert you, but to encourage you to learn for yourself what it is that the Catholic Church teaches.  Though you might still disagree, at least you will respect that the beliefs have a foundation in Scripture and a precedence in the lives of the first Christians.
