Is the idea of a celibate priesthood outdated? Wouldn't it make more sense to just let those guys get married? No way! We love our priests, and this podcast tells why.
If you know a priest, please send this podcast to them, and tell them that Deacon Tim and Cyndi send their thanks.

This is so far off the subject, I can't even see your playing field from here. But, I am so troubled by the election, I have to comment.
I saw a bumper sticker last week that read, "You cannot be Christian and pro-choice". (I want one that reads, "You cannot be a devout believer and pro-choice)I believe, most Christians and Jews alike would agree with those sentiments. How can it be then, that individuals can overlook a natoriously pro-choice voting record and vote for a canidate? How can it be, that in a country where the majority of individuals identify themselves as Christian, Obama could be elected president? How can anyone of conscience walk into a voting booth, knowing this man voted repeatedly to endorse both partial birth abortions and infantcide, and then vote for Obama for president?
I do not worry about the youth of America, it is the adults who concern me. What are we doing to our children's future.

I am in complete agreement. When we meet God at the pearly gates and He asks us why we voted the way we did, I cannot imagine us telling Him that the economy was more important than the slaughter of millions of innocent babies. The absurdity of that will hit us squarely in the face. Many act like we have elected the new messiah, but he ran on the platform of King Herod. Let's hope that he does not follow through.

The best voting advise, I have ever received came from my Father. Vote for the world in which you want your grandchildren to live, not for your immediate comforts.
Keeping that in mind. How can we make this better? Is there a framework in place for an organized army of prayer? For a network of communications concerning pending legislations and judicial appointments? Just writing the words judicial appointments sends chills down my spine...what have we as a country done to our children? How can it be that as a nation we have learned nothing from history?
Obama is frequently compared to John Kennedy. A womanizer, who left troops to die on the beach during the Bay of Pigs rather than risk making obvious what the world already knew...the US was behind the attacks. It was Kennedy whom we have to thank for embroiling us in VietNam. His one accomplishment in office was the Peace Corp, that's it. How can it be, that American's call up this man's name with such reverence and not a shudder?
How can it be, that American's look to Europe and do not recall that Hitler came to power on economic issues? Or that the Holland a country in which euthanasia is legal, and the rate of involuntary euthanasias rising, reached this point through a gradual process that began with full abortion rights.
How can it be, that the same people who are horrified at our involvement in Iraq, chose to elect yet another president without battle field experience?
When people show you who they are believe them. We have seen who Senator Obama is, never before in our history, has there been a need to be more involved or more vigilant on the political front. If we are not, than Senator Obabma and those who believe as he do, will write a future for our children, for which we will all have to answer.

As a further comment on Linda's initial reaction to last night's election outcome, here is a sequence from Dies Irae, a lament from the old Catholic missal (portions taken from the Book of Zephaniah), provided by a Courage member, who was also trembling at the thought of how many had cast their ballot for a candidate known for his aggressive support for abortion rights:
This day, this day of wrath
shall consume the world in ashes,
as foretold by David and the Sibyl.
What trembling there will be
When the judge shall come
to weigh everything strictly!
The trumpet, scattering its awful sound
Across the graves of all lands
Summons all before the throne.
Death and nature shall be stunned
When mankind arises
To render account before the judge.
The written book shall be brought
In which all is contained
Whereby the world shall be judged
When the judge takes his seat
all that is hidden shall appear
Nothing will remain unavenged.
What shall I, a wretch, say then?
To which protector shall I appeal
When even the just man is barely safe?
King of awful majesty
You freely save those worthy of salvation
Save me, found of pity.
Remember, gentle Jesus
that I am the reason for your time on earth,
do not cast me out on that day
Seeking me, you sank down wearily,
you saved me by enduring the cross,
such travail must not be in vain.
Righteous judge of vengeance,
award the gift of forgiveness
before the day of reckoning.
I groan as one guilty,
my face blushes with guilt;
spare the suppliant, O God.
Thou who didsnt absolve Mary [Magdalen]
and hear the prayer of the thied
hast given me hope, too.
My prayers are not worthy,
but Thou, O good one, show mercy,
lest I burn in everlasting fire,
Give me a place among the sheep,
and separate me from the goats,
placing me on Thy right hand.
When the damned are confounded
and consigned to keen flames,
call me with the blessed.
I pray, suppliant and kneeling,
a heart as contrite as ashes;
take Thou my ending into Thy care.
That day is one of weeping,
on which shall rise again from the ashes
the guilty man, to be judged.
Therefore spare this one, O God,
merciful Lord Jesus:
Give them rest. Amen.
