The last forty years have been a social experiment of epic proportions - have you noticed? The rules of behavior between men and women have totally changed, yet most people have not considered the ultimate consequences of this shift. Anthropologists, however, have noted our behavior, and interestingly, their observations line up with the admonitions of the Catholic Church. This is a very provocative podcast; we'd love for you to comment with your thoughts or personal experiences.

Certainly this is very thought provoking... from the stand point of understanding what is going on in the world. But when seen in a larger historical perspective say 100 or 200 years I think that it may not hold as much weight. I'm going to need to read the book, though.
BUT the more interesting point was this statement....
"What's the right thing to do regardless of how we feel about it?"
Ummmm....wow! Aproximately 16,000 children starve to death every DAY. I think that it's pretty safe to say that if a woman in a 3rd world country asks herself what's the right thing to do when she already has children she can not feed properly...if she should take the birth control so she does not produce anymore children that will starve. That she is doing what is right.
Birth Control is a very complex matter...and in lue of any real answers to World Hunger it is easy to see why birth control is touted as the savior by humanitarian aid organizations. Less mouths to feed....less starving people. Know that I don't mix up "easy to understand" with "the correct approach".
On a world scale that question is very tricky and certainly asked a lot.
On a personal scale....that question is equally tricky. And like any question usually it has multiple answers.

Tami,
Thanks for your very thoughtful comments.......it sounds like you don't have to worry about the adage of "an unexamined life is not worth living". We'd love to hear your thoughts as you work through these societal and personal issues. Thanks for posting.
