When Deacon Tim and I started podcasting, we didn't exactly lay out a plan or create a schedule of shows. In fact, we decided early on that we wouldn't get bunched up about planning our next topic, but we'd let the Holy Spirit guide us on a week-by-week basis. Like the Israelites with their manna, we would trust that our supply would be there when we needed it.
Interestingly, we have discovered that our show seems to appeal to our Protestant friends, and not just the Catholic audience that we expected. Following that lead, this week we talk about Christian unity - what does it look like? Is it possible?
In this podcast, we conclude that Christian unity must start with the common denominator which binds all Christians: Jesus Christ. From there, it gets a little more challenging. The discussions must exemplify the "fruits of the Spirit," yet maintain their integrity. Deacon Tim and I marvel at the ability of our listeners to maintain that delicate balance in our comments section; it really confirms to us that the Spirit is at work in our little podcast. Thank you, Lord!
On a completely unrelated side note......I (Cyndi) am the guest "chef" on a food blog written by my best buddy, the Pioneer Woman. Though you might think that I'm a nice Catholic girl, my ability to make a mean chicken soup might lead you to wonder whether I'm really a Jewish mother. Check it out beginning June 12 at thepioneerwomancooks. While you're there, be sure to click over to the Pioneer Woman's daily blog @ www.thepioneerwoman.com to get a taste of prairie life in these parts.

Thank you, Cindy and Deacon Tim! I'm catching up, starting with "The Eyes of Christ", then today's podcast, then will catch the ones in between. I've missed you! DO keep doing what you're doing. It occurs to me that if faith conversations in "the marketplace" are not too common and sometimes uncomfortable, your conversations are the essence of comfort (and inspired by the Comforter!)and are at our fingertips!

Hello! I just finished listening to your podcast on Christian Unity and I wanted to say thank you. I'm a protestant (actually I hate labels, I'd rather just say a Christian and leave it at that) and I get dismayed at the constant back and forth within the Body of Christ.
A friend gave me the link to your podcast because I blogged on the very same thing today. I'd love to have you join in the discussion if you have time, and I'll definately be plugging your podcast today as it ties in very nicely with what I tried to say in my post.
I believe that when we reach Heaven, we will see that many of the "major issues" of our churches were not as major as we made them. I think we will be saddened to see how we sometimes wasted our breath and time fighting with our Brother in Christ.
In the end, among Christians it should come down to love for our fellow follower in this journey to and from the Cross. Sure, we look at doctrinal issues differently, but truth is still truth, and because we all within the church (should) have founded our truth in what Jesus did on the cross, we can and should focus more on our commonalities than our differences!
Stop by ETJ today if you have a moment and weigh in on the dicussion. You have so much to add!

I just listened to my first podcast - I fell over here by way of the Pioneer Woman's cooking page.
I too am Catholic and although I attend mass every week and do all 'the right stuff' with my children I feel that my faith could certainly use a little bit of a shot in the arm.
Thanks so much. I will be a regular listener

This is also my first time, by way of P-Dub's Cooking page. I will also be a new regular listener, after going back through the archives.
I was baptised Methodist, confirmed Lutheran, left all organized relgion/denominational fights behind in 1974, and finally found the church for me and became a member of my Lutheran congregation just this year. But I have also always been fascinated by Catholicism, always.
A large part of the reason that I finally set about returning to a church family (my faith and beliefs were always inside of me; I just always said I attended "The Church of Kim's Livingroom.")is because of one of my Catholic friends, and the way her life is enhanced by her church. I thank God everyday for being led to my church, as it has had an incredibly positive impact on my life.
I have always believed, and always will, that, regardless of denomination, if you're Christian, you're alright by me! :)
Today, I feel blessed to have been led to twoedgetalk.com! I'll be a new regular!

This is the best explanation of what Communion means in all its totality that I've ever heard or read. And Cyndi, when you talk about the Eucharist and being close to Jesus, it made me cry. I've sent this podcast to many friends because I think it will go a long way toward creating more Christian unity.

Ack! I was quoted! That was a bit surprising! : )
Thanks for the follow-up to the questions.

Nice job Dad. That was a very clear and useful explanation of why truly partaking in the eucharist is exclusively catholic. Thank you.

Deacon Tim, we've received our best comment yet - your son! We're still in the teenage years around here, so I'm not even having any luck getting my 16-year-old to listen to a podcast!
